# Travel Document Vault

> Travel Document Vault is a privacy-first iOS and Android app for storing family travel documents - passports, visas, IDs - on-device with AES-256 encryption, no account required. We run no servers that ever hold or can read your documents (optional crash reports, purchase verification, and the cloud backup you control use third-party services). Optional end-to-end encrypted cloud backup (a Pro feature) goes to your own iCloud or Google Drive, sealed with a recovery code only you hold; a free Vault Export is available to everyone.

- Pro: one-time purchase ($9.99 or local store equivalent), no subscription; includes all v1.x updates. Free tier: 1 profile, up to 5 documents, expiry reminders, biometric lock
- AES-256-GCM on-device encryption
- Your Own Cloud backup (Pro feature): encrypted in iCloud (iOS) or Google Drive (Android), sealed with PBKDF2 600,000 iterations + AES-256-GCM, with one-tap restore on a new device using your recovery code, which never leaves your original device. No Travel Document Vault servers involved
- Free Vault Export (.tdvault) for everyone: export an encrypted backup file and import it on any device. A regular phone or system backup (iCloud Backup, Google Backup) reinstalls the app but cannot restore your documents, because the encryption key never leaves your original device
- Works fully offline (cloud backup is opt-in, off by default)
- Supports multiple family members under one app (unlimited profiles is a Pro feature; the free tier includes 1 profile)
- Passport and visa expiry reminders with customisable lead time
